Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Has the news of the overwhelming event reached you? 1 (Some) faces on that day shall be downcast, 2 Labouring (hard), weary,- 3 roasting at a scorching Fire 4 that is fueled from a tremendously hot fountain, 5 No food will there be for them but a poisonous thorny plant, 6 which gives no strength and neither stills hunger. 7 Some faces on that Day will be radiant, 8 Well-pleased because of their striving, 9 In a lofty garden, 10 Wherein they will hear no unsuitable speech. 11 Therein will be a bubbling spring: 12 Therein are thrones raised high, 13 and goblets set at hand, 14 and cushions arrayed in rows, 15 and carpets spread out. 16 Do they not look at the Camels, how they are made?- 17 And the heaven, how it is raised? 18 And at the mountains - how they are erected? 19 how the earth was outstretched? 20 Therefore advise; indeed you are a proclaimer of advice. (The Holy Prophet is a Remembrance from Allah.) 21 Thou art not at all a warder over them. 22 Save the one who turns away and disbelieves 23 So Allah will mete out to him the greatest punishment. 24 Surely to Us is their return; 25 And Ours their reckoning. 26
