The Embryo (Al-Alaq)
19 verses, revealed in Mecca. First revelation of the Quran before The Pen (Al-Qalam)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
Read with the name of your Lord Who created, 1 created the human from a (blood) clot. 2 Read! Your Lord is the Most Generous, 3 Who taught (to write) with the pen 4 taught man what he did not know. 5 Nay, but man doth transgress all bounds, 6 That he thinketh himself independent! 7 truly, all will return to your Lord. 8 What do you think? Have you seen he who forbids 9 a worshiper when he prays. 10 Have you seen if he was upon guidance 11 or orders piety? 12 What will happen if the prohibiting rejects the Truth and turns away from it!? 13 Is he then unaware that Allah seeth? 14 And yet indeed if he does not desist We shall drag him by the forelock, 15 a lying, sinful forelock. 16 Then, let him call (for help) to his council (of comrades): 17 We will now call the guards! 18 Nay, heed him not: But bow down in adoration, and bring thyself the closer (to Allah)! ۩ 19
Allah the Almighty always says the truth.
