The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
۞ When the heaven is split asunder 1 And hearkens to its Lord and is dutiful, 2 when the earth is stretched out 3 And shall cast forth that which is therein, and shall become empty. 4 And it listens to the command of its Lord – and that befits it. 5 O man! verily thou art toiling toward thy Lord a painful toiling, and art about to meet Him. 6 Whoever is given the Record in his right hand 7 will be easy, 8 and shall return to his people joyfully. 9 But as for him whose record shall be given to him behind his back; 10 shall call for destruction 11 And will go into the blazing fire. 12 Truly, did he go about among his people, rejoicing! 13 Never thinking he will return. 14 Why not? His Lord was always watching him. 15 So indeed I call to witness the evening twilight, 16 and the night and what it envelops 17 or by the moon when it is full, 18 That you shall most certainly enter one state after another. 19 So what is [the matter] with them [that] they do not believe, 20 And that, when the Qur'an is read unto them, they prostrate not them-selves! ۩ 21 Yea those who disbelieve belie. 22 But God knows what they harbour in their breasts. 23 Wherefore announce thou unto them a torment afflictive. 24 unless it be such [of them] as [repent, and] attain to faith, and do good works; for theirs shall be a reward unending! 25
