Ask them, "Who can protect them from (the wrath of) the Beneficent God during the night and day?" Yet they are neglectful about their Lord. 42 Or, have they gods who can defend them against Us? They shall not be able to assist themselves, nor shall they be defended from Us. 43 Aye! We let these people and their fathers enjoy until there grew long upon them the life. Behold they not that We come unto the land diminishing it by the borders thereof? Shall they then be the victors? 44 Say: 'I warn you only by the Revelation' But the deaf hear nothing when they are warned. 45 If but a breath of thy Lord's chastisement touched them, they would surely say, 'Alas for us! We were evildoers.' 46 And We will set up a just balance on the day of resurrection, so no soul shall be dealt with unjustly in the least; and though there be the weight of a grain of mustard seed, (yet) will We bring it, and sufficient are We to take account. 47 We gave Moses and Aaron the Criterion, and a light and reminder for those who take heed for themselves, 48 those who fear their Lord in the unseen, also dread the Hour of Judgement. 49 This (Quran) which We have revealed is a blessed reminder. Will you then deny it? 50
