Tell them the story of Abraham, 69 When he asked his father and his people: "What do you worship?" 70 They said, "We worship idols and remain to them devoted." 71 He said: Do they hear you when you call? 72 Or do they benefit you, or do you harm?" 73 They replied: 'No, but we found our fathers doing so' 74 He said: Have you then considered what you have been worshipping: 75 you, and your elderly fathers? 76 Verily they are an enemy unto me, save the Lord of the worlds. 77 who has created me and is the One who guides me, 78 It is He who gives me food and drink 79 "And when I am ill, it is He Who cures me; 80 He will cause me to die and will bring me back to life. 81 It is He whom I expect to forgive my sins on the Day of Judgment. 82 My Lord: Grant me wisdom, and join me with the good 83 And give unto me a good report in later generations. 84 “And make me among the inheritors of the Gardens of serenity.” 85 And forgive my father. Indeed, he has been of those astray. 86 And do not disgrace me on the Day they are [all] resurrected - 87 the Day when wealth and sons will be of no avail, 88 [and when] only he [will be happy] who comes before God with a heart free of evil!" 89 And the garden shall be brought near for those who guard (against evil), 90 and Hell advanced for the perverse. 91 who will be asked, "What did you worship 92 "Instead of Allah? Can they help you or (even) help themselves?" 93 Then they will be thrown headlong into Hell, both they and the misguided ones, 94 and the army of satan will all be thrown headlong into hell. 95 "Quarrelling therein with each other, 96 By Allah! we were certainly in manifest error, 97 When We held you (false gods) as equals (in worship) with the Lord of the 'Alamin (mankind, jinns and all that exists); 98 No one but the sinners led us astray. 99 So now we have no intercessors 100 Nor any sincere friend. 101 "'Now if we only had a chance of return we shall truly be of those who believe!'" 102 Verily herein is a sign, but most of them are not believers. 103 And verily thy Lord! He is the Mighty, the Merciful. 104
