Drivers of the Winds (Al-Dhaareyaat)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
By (the winds) that scatter dust. 1 and the burden-bearers 2 by the ships which smoothly sail on the oceans, 3 by the angels which distribute the affairs, 4 that what you are promised is certainly true 5 And verily the Requital is surely to befall. 6 By the beautiful heavens, 7 Truly ye are in a doctrine discordant, 8 and are turned away from him who is turned. 9 Cursed be the liars, 10 Those who are in heedlessness neglectful. 11 They ask, "When it will be the Day of Judgment?" 12 Upon the day when they shall be tried at the Fire: 13 (And told:) "Taste your punishment. This is what you were trying to hasten." 14 Verily the God-fearing will be amid Gardens and water-springs. 15 Taking joy in the things which their Lord gives them, because, before then, they lived a good life. 16 They used to sleep only a little during the night. 17 And in the morning they asked forgiveness. 18 And from their properties was [given] the right of the [needy] petitioner and the deprived. 19 And in the earth there are signs for those who are sure, 20 And in yourselves. Then will you not see? 21 And in heaven is your Sustenance, as (also) that which ye are promised. 22 Then, by the Lord of the heaven and the earth, it is the truth (i.e. what has been promised to you), just as it is the truth that you can speak. 23
