The Mountain (Al-Toor)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
By the Mount; 1 and the Book inscribed 2 In parchment spread open 3 And the House frequented, 4 And the roof exalted, 5 and by the swelling sea: 6 Most surely the punishment of your Lord will come to pass; 7 there is none to prevent it. 8 Upon the day when heaven spins dizzily 9 And the mountains will fly hither and thither. 10 Will be the day of woe for those 11 and who indulged in false disputes against (God's revelations). 12 on that Day they shall be ruthlessly thrust into the Fire of Hell. 13 'This is the fire that you cried lies to! 14 Is this magic? or ye still see not clearly! 15 Burn in its heat. It is all the same for you whether you exercise patience or not; This is the recompense for your deeds". 16 The pious will live in bountiful Paradise, 17 rejoicing in that their Lord has given them; and their Lord shall guard them against the chastisement of Hell. 18 (They will be told): “Eat and drink to your hearts' content as a reward for your deeds.” 19 They will recline (with ease) on thrones arranged in ranks. And We shall marry them to Houris (female, fair ones) with wide lovely eyes. 20 And they who believe and whose seed follow them in faith, We cause their seed to join them (there), and We deprive them of nought of their (life's) work. Every man is a pledge for that which he hath earned. 21 We shall provide them in abundance with such fruit and meat as they desire. 22 while they pass therein a cup one to another wherein is no idle talk, no cause of sin, 23 ۞ and youths, of their own, shall pass among them as if they were hidden pearls. 24 And some of them shall advance towards others questioning each other. 25 They say, 'We were before among our people, ever going in fear, 26 “So Allah did us a great favour, and saved us from the punishment of the flame.” 27 Lo! we used to pray unto Him of old. Lo! He is the Benign, the Merciful. 28
