The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
۞ ABOUT WHAT do they [most often] ask one another? 1 About the great event, 2 About which they cannot agree. 3 Nay, but they will come to know! 4 Again, no indeed; they shall soon know! 5 Have We not made the earth as a cradle 6 The mountains tent-pins? 7 And (have We not) created you in pairs, 8 And made sleep for you to rest, 9 And have made the night as a covering (through its darkness), 10 And We have made the day for seeking livelihood. 11 We have built above you seven mighty heavens, 12 And have kept a very bright lamp in it. 13 And We send down from the clouds water pouring forth abundantly, 14 That We may produce therewith corn and vegetables, 15 and gardens dense with foliage? 16 Verily the Day of Sorting out is a thing appointed, 17 the Day when the trumpet [of resurrection] is sounded and you all come forward in multitudes; 18 and heaven is opened, having gates, 19 and the mountains move, and vaporize. 20 Hell will lie in wait (for its prey). 21 A home for the rebellious. 22 there, they shall live for ages, 23 tasting therein neither coolness nor any drink 24 Save boiling water and a paralysing cold: 25 a befitting recompense for their deeds. 26 They did not expect such a Judgment 27 But they belied Our Ayat (proofs, evidences, verses, lessons, signs, revelations, and that which Our Prophet (Peace be upon him) brought) completely. 28 And everything have We recorded in a Book. 29 "So taste ye (the fruits of your deeds); for no increase shall We grant you, except in Punishment." 30
