The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
By the (angels) who tear out (the souls of the wicked) with violence; 1 by the angels who gently release the souls of the believers, 2 By the lone stars floating, 3 And then they speed with foremost speed. 4 Then arrange to do (the Commands of their Lord), 5 On the Day (when the first blowing of the Trumpet is blown), the earth and the mountains will shake violently (and everybody will die), 6 Followed by the second blast, 7 Many a heart will flutter on that day! 8 Eyes be lowered in submission. 9 They say (now): "What! shall we indeed be returned to (our) former state? 10 even after we have turned into decayed bones?" 11 They said: That then would be a return occasioning loss. 12 Surely it will need but one shout, 13 When lo! they shall be wakeful. 14 Hath there come unto thee the history of Moses? 15 When his Lord called him in the holy valley of Tuwa. 16 Go to Fir'aun (Pharaoh), verily, he has transgressed all bounds (in crimes, sins, polytheism, disbelief, etc.). 17 And say (unto him): Hast thou (will) to grow (in grace)? 18 that I might guide you to your Lord, so that you fear (Him)." 19 And he showed him the tremendous token. 20 But [Fir'aun (Pharaoh)] belied and disobeyed; 21 Then he turned back striving. 22 Then he gathered his people and cried aloud, 23 “I am the supreme lord of you all.” 24 So Allah, seized him with punishment for his last [i.e. his saying: "I am your lord, most high") (see Verse 79:24)] and first [(i.e. his saying, "O chiefs! I know not that you have a god other than I" (see Verse 28:38)] transgression. 25 Lo! herein is indeed a lesson for him who feareth. 26
