Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
Has the story reached thee of the overwhelming (Event)? 1 On that Day faces shall be humbled, 2 Labouring, striving hard. 3 about to enter a glowing fire, 4 The while they are given, to drink, of a boiling hot spring, 5 They will have no food except bitter thorn, 6 Which shall neither nourish nor avail against hunger. 7 [Other] faces, that Day, will show pleasure. 8 With their endeavour well pleased. 9 in a Garden on high, 10 wherein they shall hear no vain talk. 11 A gushing fountain shall be there 12 Wherein are couches raised 13 And goblets set at hand 14 and arranged cushions 15 and rich carpets levelled out. 16 Do they not look at the camels, how they are created? 17 And the heaven – how it has been raised? 18 And the mountains, how they are firmly fixed, 19 how the earth was outstretched? 20 Remind them, for thou art but a remembrancer, 21 Thou art not over them a warden. 22 However, those who turn away and disbelieve, 23 Then Allah will punish him with the greatest punishment. 24 To Us is surely their returning; 25 and then it is for Us to call them to account. 26
