۞ (It will be said to the angels): "Assemble those who did wrong, together with their companions (from the devils) and what they used to worship. 22 Instead of Allah, and lead them to the path to hell; 23 "But stop them, for they must be asked: 24 "What is the matter with you? Why do you not help one another (as you used to do in the world)?" 25 Indeed, today they are surrendering themselves completely.” 26 And some of them inclined towards others, mutually questioning. 27 Saying: "It were you who imposed yourselves upon us." 28 Those say, 'No; on the contrary, you were not believers; 29 Moreover, we had no power at all over you: nay, you were people filled with overweening arrogance! 30 Now the Word of our Lord hath been fulfilled concerning us. Lo! we are about to taste (the doom). 31 So we led you astray; we ourselves were strayed.” 32 On that day they will all share the torment. 33 Verily, thus shall We deal with all who were lost in sin: 34 Verily when it was said unto them: there is no god but Allah, they ever grew stiff-necked. 35 And said: Shall we forsake our gods for a mad poet? 36 "Surely, he has brought the truth, confirming those who were sent before; 37 “You surely have to taste the painful punishment.” 38 And you will be requited nothing except for what you used to do (evil deeds, sins, and Allah's disobedience which you used to do in this world); 39 But the bondmen of Allah, the sincere ones 40 there is waiting for them a known provision; 41 Fruits. And they will be honoured 42 In the Gardens of delight, 43 on couches facing each other. 44 A cup from a gushing spring is brought round for them, 45 White, delicious for the drinkers. 46 No bad effect is there in it, nor from it will they be intoxicated. 47 And with them will be chaste females, restraining their glances (desiring none except their husbands), with wide and beautiful eyes. 48 As if they were eggs, safely hidden. 49 And they will approach one another, inquiring of each other. 50 one of them will say, "I had a friend, 51 Who would say, 'Are you indeed of those who believe 52 Can we, when we are dead and have become mere dust and bones - can we (then) verily be brought to book? 53 Allah will say: will ye look down? 54 Then looketh he and seeth him in the depth of hell. 55 He will say to him: -- By Allah, you almost ruined me. 56 And had it not been for the favor of my Lord, I would certainly have been among those brought up. 57 What, do we then not die 58 and that we would not be punished?" 59 Lo! this is the supreme triumph. 60 For the like of this, then, let the workers work. 61 Is this better or the tree of Zaqqum 62 Which We have reserved as punishment for evil-doers? 63 Verily, it is a tree that springs out of the bottom of Hell-fire, 64 Its spathes are like the prickly pear. 65 Truly, they will eat thereof and fill their bellies therewith. 66 Washing it down with boiling water. 67 Then their return will be to the same blazing Hell. 68 Verily they found their fathers gone astray. 69 So they hastily follow their footsteps! 70 yet before them most of the ancients went astray, 71 and We had sent among them Messengers to warn them. 72 Observe, then, what was the end of those that had been warned, 73 Except the chosen slaves of Allah (faithful, obedient, and true believers of Islamic Monotheism). 74
