He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ He frowned and turned away 1 because the blind man approached him! 2 But what could tell you that per chance he might become pure (from sins)? 3 Or be admonished, and the admonition profit him? 4 But the self-sufficient, 5 you attended to him, 6 though it is not thy concern, if he does not cleanse himself. 7 As for him who comes to you striving (after goodness), 8 and fears (Allah), 9 you pay him no heed. 10 No! Indeed, these verses are a reminder; 11 So whosoever willeth - let him be admonished therewlth. 12 On honoured leaves 13 Exalted and holy, 14 In the hands of scribes 15 noble and most virtuous. 16 Perish Man! How unthankful he is! 17 Of what thing did He create him? 18 Out of a drop of sperm He creates him, and thereupon determines his nature, 19 Then maketh the way easy for him, 20 Then He caused him to die and made him to be buried. 21 Then, when He will, He bringeth him again to life. 22 No! Man has not yet accomplished what He commanded him. 23 Let man look at his food: 24 We poured down rain abundantly, 25 And We split the earth in fragments, 26 And produce therein corn, 27 and vines, and reeds, 28 And the olive and the palm, 29 and dense-tree'd gardens, 30 And fruits and fodder: 31 all this as a provision for you and your cattle. 32 Then, when there comes As-Sakhkhah (the Day of Resurrection's second blowing of Trumpet), 33 On the Day a man will flee from his brother 34 mother, father, 35 and his consort and his children; 36 for on that day everyone will be completely engrossed in his own concerns. 37 [Some] faces, that Day, will be bright - 38 Laughing, rejoicing at good news. 39 some faces on that day shall be dusty 40 o'erspread with darkness -- 41 These will be the unbelievers, the wicked. 42
