The Hidden Secret (Al-Muddath-thir)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
O thou enveloped in thy cloak, 1 Arise and warn! 2 And your Lord (Allah) magnify! 3 purify your garments; 4 And keep away from Ar-Rujz (the idols)! 5 And do not confer favor to acquire more 6 And for the sake of your Lord, patiently endure. 7 When the trumpet is sounded,. 8 Surely that day will be a day of anguish, 9 For the disbelievers - not easy. 10 Leave Me with him whom I created alone, 11 And then bestowed upon him ample means, 12 And sons to be by his side!- 13 I made things smooth and easy for him, 14 Yet he desireth that I should give more. 15 By no means! For to Our Signs he has been refractory! 16 Soon I shall mount him on Saood, the hill of fire. 17 Surely he reflected and guessed, 18 Perish he! How maliciously he devised! 19 Yea, Woe to him; How he plotted!- 20 Then he beheld, 21 frowned and scowled, 22 Then turned his back and waxed proud, 23 And said, "This is not but magic imitated [from others]. 24 This is nothing but the word of a mortal!" 25 Him shall I fling unto the burning. 26 And what could make thee conceive what hell-fire is? 27 It spares not, neither leaves alone 28 scorching the flesh; 29 Over it are nineteen [powers]. 30 We have appointed none but angels to guard the Fire, and made their number only as a trial for the unbelievers, so that those to whom the Book was given are certain and those who believe increase in belief. And that those who were given the Book, and those who believe will not be in doubt. And that those in whose hearts there is a sickness, together with the unbelievers, may say: 'What did Allah intend by this as an example' As such, Allah leaves in error whom He will and He guides whomsoever He will. None knows the hosts of your Lord except He. This is no more than a Reminder to humans. 31
