When the messengers came to Lot and his family, 61 He said: "Ye appear to be uncommon folk." 62 They answered: "Nay, but we have come unto thee with [the announcement of] something that they [who are given to evil] have always been wont to call in question, 63 And we have come to you with the truth, and we are most surely truthful. 64 So travel with thy household in a portion of the night, and follow thou their backs. Let none of you turn round, but go whither ye are commanded. 65 And We made plain the case to him, that the root of them (who did wrong) was to be cut at early morn. 66 The inhabitants of the city came in (mad) joy (at news of the young men). 67 Said Lot: "These are my guests; do not put me to shame, 68 but be conscious of God and disgrace me not!" 69 "Did we not restrain you," they said, "from (entertaining) creatures from the outside world?" 70 "Here are my daughters," said Lot, "if you are so active." 71 Verily, by thy life (O Prophet), in their wild intoxication, they wander in distraction, to and fro. 72 And thereupon the blast [of Our punishment] overtook them at the time of sunrise, 73 Thus did We turn it upside down, and rained down upon them stones of what had been decreed. 74 Surely in this are signs for those who examine. 75 That town lies on a road which still exists. 76 Verily there is a Sign in this for the believers. 77 And the people of Aykah were also wrong-doers. 78 We therefore took revenge from them; and indeed both these townships are situated on an open road. 79
