T H (Taa Haa)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ Ta-Ha. 1 We did not reveal the Qur'an to you to cause you distress; 2 it is only a reminder for him who fears Allah; 3 a revelation from Him who has created the earth and the high heavens 4 The Most Beneficent (Allah) Istawa (rose over) the (Mighty) Throne (in a manner that suits His Majesty). 5 To Him only belongs all whatever is in the heavens and all whatever is in the earth, and all whatever is between them, and all whatever is beneath this wet soil. 6 And if you utter the saying aloud, then surely He knows the secret, and what is yet more hidden. 7 Allah - there is no god but He. His are the most excellent names. 8 And has the story of Moses reached you? - 9 Lo! he saw a fire [in the desert]; and so he said to his family: "Wait here! Behold, I perceive a fire [far away]: perhaps I can bring you a brand there from, or find at the fire some guidance." 10 And when he came to it (the fire), he was called by name: "O Musa (Moses)! 11 I am your Lord. Take off your shoes, for you are in Towa, the sacred valley. 12 "I have chosen thee: listen, then, to the inspiration (sent to thee). 13 Indeed, I am Allah. There is no god except Me. Worship Me, and establish the prayer of My remembrance. 14 "Verily the Hour is coming - My design is to keep it hidden - for every soul to receive its reward by the measure of its Endeavour. 15 Hence, let not anyone who does not believe in its coming and follows [but] his own desires divert thee from [belief in] it, lest thou perish! 16 The Lord asked, "Moses, what is in your right hand?" 17 He said: This is my staff whereon I lean, and wherewith I bear down branches for my sheep, and wherein I find other uses. 18 God said, "Moses, cast it down." 19 So he cast it down, and thereupon it turned into a sliding serpent. 20 [Allah] said, "Seize it and fear not; We will return it to its former condition. 21 And place your hand in your armpit, it will come forth shining white, without blemish. This is another Sign of Allah, 22 So We would show thee some of Our greatest signs. 23 Go thou unto Pharaoh! Lo! he hath transgressed (the bounds). 24
