The Moon (Al-Qamar)
55 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Comet (Al-Taareq) before S (Saad)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
The Hour hath drawn nigh, and the moon hath been rent in sunder. 1 And if they see a sign, they turn away, and say: "This is continuous magic." 2 They reject (the warning) and follow their (own) lusts but every matter has its appointed time. 3 Surely there came to them narratives (of the ancient nations) that should suffice to deter (them from transgression), 4 Mature wisdom;- but (the preaching of) Warners profits them not. 5 Wherefore withdrew thou from them. The Day whereon the summoner will summon mankind unto a thing unpleasant. 6 they will come forth from their graves, with their eyes downcast, [swarming about] like locusts scattered [by the wind,] 7 Hastening towards the caller, the disbelievers will say: "This is a hard Day." 8 ۞ The people of Noah denied before them, and they denied Our servant and said, "A madman," and he was repelled. 9 So he invoked his Lord, "Indeed, I am overpowered, so help." 10 We opened the Gates of Heaven with torrential water 11 and made the earth to gush with fountains, and the waters met for a matter decreed. 12 And We carried him upon a thing of planks and nails, 13 Sailing in front of Our sight; as a reward for the sake of one who was rejected. 14 And verily We left it as a token; but is there any that remembereth? 15 How terrible was My torment and the result of (their disregard) of My warning. 16 And We have indeed made the Quran easy to understand and remember, then is there any that will remember (or receive admonition)? 17 The people of 'Ad too rejected the truth. How terrible was My punishment and My warning. 18 Surely We sent on them a tornado in a day of bitter ill-luck 19 Plucking out men as if they were uprooted stems of date-palms. 20 And how [severe] were My punishment and warning. 21 Now We have made the Koran easy for Remembrance. Is there any that will remember? 22

When reading the Colorful Quran in English transliterated Arabic mode, you may not notice that there is an algorithm designed to match the pause requirements of the original Arabic scripture, (waqf signs). As you may know, the original Arabic Quran has five main types of pauses, (waqf) signs. (1) Compulsory break, where the transliteration uses a full stop. (2) Optional pause with the preference for pausing, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a probability of two thirds. (3) Optional stop with an equal preference for pausing and resuming, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a half-half probability. (4) Optional pause with the preference for resuming, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a chance of one third. (5) Attraction pause, also called hugging, or (mu’anaka) sign, where it is compulsory to pause at either one of two nearby positions, but not both; where the transliteration inserts a comma at either one of the two locations with a half-half probability.
