The News (Al-Naba')
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
۞ About what are they asking one another? 1 They quarrel about the great news 2 Concerning which they are in disagreement. 3 No! They are going to know. 4 again, no indeed; soon will they come to know. 5 Have We not made the earth as a place to rest 6 And the mountains as pegs? 7 And We have created you in pairs (male and female, tall and short, good and bad, etc.). 8 And We have made your sleep as a rest. 9 And We have made the night a covering. 10 And We have made the day for seeking livelihood. 11 Have We not made seven strong heavens above you, 12 and placed therein a hot, shining lamp, 13 And from the wind-driven clouds We send down waters pouring in abundance, 14 so that We might bring forth thereby grain, and herbs, 15 And gardens of entwined growth. 16 Verily the Day of Decision is a time appointed. 17 The Day that the Trumpet shall be sounded, and ye shall come forth in crowds; 18 and heaven is opened, and become gates, 19 and when the mountains are made to vanish as if they had been a mirage. 20 Behold, Gehenna has become an ambush, 21 a home for the transgressors, 22 there, they shall live for ages, 23 They will neither taste anything cool in it, nor anything to drink. 24 Except boiling water, and dirty wound discharges. 25 for a suitable recompense. 26 For that they used not to fear any account (for their deeds), 27 But they (impudently) treated Our Signs as false. 28 And everything We have recorded in a book. 29 So taste you (the results of your evil actions); no increase shall We give you, except in torment. 30
