He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
۞ He frowned and turned away 1 Because there came to him the blind man, [interrupting]. 2 And what should teach thee? Perchance he would cleanse him, 3 Or be reminded and the remembrance would benefit him? 4 But the self-sufficient, 5 You pay full attention, 6 Though it is not your concern if he should not grow (in fulness). 7 And to him who came to you eagerly 8 and in awe of God 9 of him you were unmindful. 10 Nay, (do not do like this), indeed it (these Verses of this Quran) are an admonition, 11 For any one who desires to bear it in mind, 12 (It is) in Books held (greatly) in honour, 13 exalted, purified, 14 by the hands of scribes 15 Who are noble, virtuous. 16 Woe to man! How ungrateful he is! 17 From what stuff hath He created him? 18 He created him from a living germ. He determined his fate 19 Then the way He made easy. 20 Then He caused him to die and be buried 21 Then, when it is His Will, He will raise him up (again). 22 Yet man declines to do His bidding. 23 Let the human being think about (how We produce) his food. 24 We poured water, pouring it in great abundance, 25 and then We cleave the earth [with new growth,] cleaving it asunder, 26 to yield therein corn, 27 and vines, and reeds, 28 And olive and palm trees 29 and burgeoning enclosed gardens 30 And fruits and grass, 31 an enjoyment for you and your flocks. 32 But when the deafening cry comes, 33 upon the day when a man shall flee from his brother, 34 And his mother and his father 35 And his wife and his children, 36 for on that day everyone will be completely engrossed in his own concerns. 37 [Some] faces, that Day, will be bright - 38 laughing and joyous 39 whereas some faces will be covered with dust 40 Blackness will cover them: 41 They will be the unbelievers, transgressors. 42
