The Cheaters (Al-Mutaffifeen)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
Woe to those who give short measure, 1 Those who, when they have to receive by measure from men, demand full measure, 2 But if they give by measure or by weight to them, they cause loss. 3 Do they not realise that they will be raised to life 4 on a fateful Day. 5 The Day when mankind will stand before the Lord of the Universe? 6 No indeed; the Book of the libertines is in Sijjin; 7 And what can make you know what is sijjeen? 8 It is a Book inscribed. 9 Woe, that Day, to those who deny [(Allah, His Angels, His Books, His Messengers, the Day of Resurrection, and Al-Qadar (Divine Preordainments)]. 10 who belied the Day of Recompense! 11 for, none gives the lie to it but such as are wont to transgress against all that is [and are] immersed in sin: 12 When Our verses are recited to him, he says: 'Fictitious tales of the ancients' 13 By no means! Aye! encrusted upon their hearts is that which they have been earning. 14 By no means! Verily on that Day from their Lord they will be shut out. 15 Then most surely they shall enter the burning fire. 16 and who will be told, "This is what you had called a lie". 17 No indeed; the book of the pious is in Illiyun; 18 And what do you know what the Record of the exalted ones is? 19 It is a comprehensively written Book (of records). 20 The ones nearest to God will bring it to public. 21 Verily the virtuous shall be in Bliss; 22 upon couches gazing; 23 and in their faces you shall know the radiance of bliss. 24 They will be given to drink pure sealed wine. 25 whose seal is musk – so let all aspirants aspire after that – 26 It (that wine) will be mixed with Tasnim. 27 a fountain at which do drink those brought nigh. 28 Indeed the guilty used to laugh at the believers. 29 when they passed by them they winked, 30 And when they went back to their people turned to make fun of them; 31 And when they saw them, they said: "Verily! These have indeed gone astray!" 32 But they (disbelievers, sinners) had not been sent as watchers over them (the believers). 33 Wherefore Today, those who believed at the infidels are laughing, 34 On (high) thrones, looking (at all things). 35 Have the unbelievers been rewarded for what they did? 36
