The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ When the heaven is sundered. 1 And it hearkeneth to its Lord, and is duteous. 2 And when the earth is stretched forth, 3 And has cast out all that was in it and became empty, 4 And listens and obeys its Lord, and it must do so; 5 O man! surely you must strive (to attain) to your Lord, a hard striving until you meet Him. 6 Then as for him who is given his book in his right hand, 7 He truly will receive an easy reckoning 8 and shall return to his people joyfully. 9 But whosoever is given his Record behind his back, 10 he will pray for utter destruction 11 And be thrown to scorching fire. 12 Verily he was among his people joyous. 13 He assumed that he does not have to return. 14 But yes! Indeed, his Lord was ever of him, Seeing. 15 But nay! I swear by the sunset redness, 16 by the night and what it covers, 17 And [by] the moon when it becomes full 18 you will progress from stage to stage. 19 So, what is the matter with them that they do not believe, 20 and when the Koran is recited to them that they do not prostrate! ۩ 21 Instead, the unbelievers reject it, calling it a lie. 22 But Allah has full knowledge of what they secrete (in their breasts) 23 So give them the good news of a painful chastisement, 24 Save those who believe and do good works, for theirs is a reward unfailing. 25
