The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ When there happeneth the Event. 1 There is no denying that it will befall - 2 It will bring low (some); (and others) it will exalt; 3 When the earth will tremble, shivering. 4 And the mountains will be crushed, blown to bits. 5 So that they shall be as scattered dust. 6 You will become three categories: 7 Then (there will be) the Companions of the Right Hand;- What will be the Companions of the Right Hand? 8 And the companions of the left - what are the companions of the left? 9 And the foremost in the race, the foremost in the race: 10 These are they who are drawn nigh (to Allah), 11 In gardens of delight; 12 (a throng of the ancients 13 And a few from among the latter. 14 On lined couches, 15 Reclining face to face. 16 (and there) shall wait on them immortal youths 17 With goblets and ewers and a cup of limpid drink. 18 Wherefrom they get no aching of the head nor any madness, 19 And with fruit from that which they choose. 20 and with the flesh of any fowl that they may desire. 21 and wide-eyed houris 22 The likenesses of pearls well-protected, 23 The reward for what they did. 24 They will not hear therein ill speech or commission of sin - 25 except each other's greetings of, "Peace be with you". 26 And the companions of the right hand; how happy are the companions of the right hand! 27 They shall recline on high amidst lote trees without thorns 28 And clustered plantains, 29 and spreading shade 30 and flowing water, 31 And plenty of fruits. 32 Neither intercepted nor forbidden, 33 on raised couches. 34 Lo! We have created them a (new) creation 35 And made them virgins, 36 chaste, loving companions of the same age 37 For those on the right hand; 38
