Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
By the winds sent forth with beneficence. 1 By the raging hurricanes, 2 by (the angels) spreading (the words of God) far and wide, 3 Then separate them, one from another, 4 And those that bring down the Reminder 5 Whether of Justification or of Warning;- 6 surely, that which you have been promised is about to fall! 7 So when stars are effaced. 8 And when the heaven is cleft asunder; 9 And when the mountains are blown away 10 And when the messengers' time has come... 11 To which Day has this task been deferred? 12 To the Day of Decision. 13 And what knowest thou what the Day of Decision is? 14 Woe on that Day to those who belied it! 15 Did We not destroy the ancients 16 And We shall cause those of later times to follow them. 17 So We serve the sinners. 18 Woe on that day unto the beliers! 19 Created We you not of water despicable, 20 We then kept it in a safe place. 21 till a known term decreed? 22 We then calculated; so how excellently do We control! 23 Woe, on that Day unto those who give the lie to the truth! 24 Have We not made the earth to draw together to itself, 25 For the living and the dead. 26 And We placed therein lofty, firmly set mountains and have given you to drink sweet water. 27 Ah woe, that Day, to the Rejecters of Truth! 28 GO ON towards that [resurrection] which you were wont to call a lie! 29 Go to the shadow with three ramifications, 30 [But having] no cool shade and availing not against the flame." 31 It will throw out sparks as logs of wood 32 So like golden camels." 33 On that day, woe would be upon those who have rejected God's revelations! 34 This is a day in which they will not be able to speak. 35 And they will not be permitted to put forth any excuse. 36 Woe on that day to the rejecters. 37 That will be the Day of Reckoning. Gathered will be (you) and the earlier (generations). 38 and if you [think that you] have a subterfuge left, try to outwit Me!" 39 Ruin is for the deniers on that day! 40
