The Cheaters (Al-Mutaffifeen)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
Woe to those who give short measure, 1 Those who, when they have to receive by measure from men, exact full measure, 2 But when they measure out to others or weigh out for them, they are deficient. 3 Do they not realise that they will be raised to life 4 on a great day 5 A Day whereon mankind shall stand before the Lord of the worlds? 6 No indeed; the Book of the libertines is in Sijjin; 7 And what will make you know what the Sijjin is? 8 It is a written book. 9 Ruin is for the deniers on that day! 10 Who deny the Day of Recompense. 11 None denies it but the sinful transgressors. 12 When Our verses are recited to him, he says: 'Fictitious tales of the ancients' 13 No indeed! The truth is that their hearts have become rusted on account of their evil deeds. 14 On the Day of Judgment, they will certainly be barred from the mercy of their Lord. 15 They will suffer the heat of fire 16 Further, it will be said to them: "This is the (reality) which ye rejected as false! 17 Nay! Verily, the Record (writing of the deeds) of Al-Abrar (the pious who fear Allah and avoid evil), is (preserved) in 'Illiyyun. 18 But how will you comprehend what 'Illiyun is? 19 (There is) a Register (fully) inscribed, 20 Which is witnessed by the close ones. 21 Lo! the righteous verily are in delight, 22 On thrones, looking (at all things). 23 You will recognize in their faces the radiance of pleasure. 24 as they are given to drink of a wine sealed 25 The seal thereof will be Musk: And for this let those aspire, who have aspirations: 26 And admixture thereof will be Water of Tasnim: 27 A spring, from (the waters) whereof drink those Nearest to Allah. 28 The sinners laughed at the believers 29 when they passed by them, they would wink at one another; 30 And when they returned to their own people, they would return jesting; 31 And when they saw them, they said: "Verily! These have indeed gone astray!" 32 Whereas they were not sent over them as watchers. 33 But this Day (the Day of Resurrection) those who believe will laugh at the disbelievers 34 while reclining on couches and reviewing (the bounties given to them). 35 Will not the Unbelievers have been paid back for what they did? 36
