The All Compassionate (Al-Rahman)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ The All-merciful 1 has taught the Qur'an, 2 He created man 3 And taught him to express clearly. 4 The sun and the moon follow courses (exactly) computed; 5 And the grasses and the trees bow (to Him) in adoration. 6 And the heaven, He raised it high, and He made the balance 7 That ye exceed not the measure, 8 And observe correct measure, weigh with justice, and not cheat the balance. 9 It is He Who has spread out the earth for (His) creatures: 10 therein fruits, and palm-trees with sheaths, 11 and grain growing tall on its stalks, and sweet-smelling plants. 12 So O men and jinns! Which favour of your Lord will you deny? 13 He created the human being from clay like that used for pottery 14 And created jinn from the flame of fire. 15 Which of the wonders of your Lord's power will you twain – you men and jinn – then deny? 16 (He is) Lord of the two Easts and Lord of the two Wests: 17 O which of your Lord's bounties will you and you deny? 18 He has given freedom to the two great bodies of water, so that they might meet: 19 Between them is a Barrier which they do not transgress: 20 How many favours of your Lord will then both of you deny? -- 21 From them come forth the pearl and the coral. 22 Which, of your Lord's wonders would you deny? 23 His are the ships with elevated sails upon the sea like mountains. 24 Which of the favours of your Lord will you twain – you men and jinn – then deny? 25
