The Comet (Al-Taareq)
17 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Town (Al-Balad) before The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
I CALL TO witness the heavens and the night Star -- 1 And what can make you know what is the night comer? 2 It is the star that shines with a piercing brightness -- 3 No human soul but hath a guardian over it. 4 Let the human reflect of what he is created. 5 He is created from a drop emitted- 6 which comes out of the loins and ribs. 7 Surely (Allah) is able to bring him back (to life)! 8 The Day when secrets will be put on trial, 9 He shall have neither strength nor helper. 10 By the heaven with its recurring cycle of rain, 11 And the earth which splits (with the growth of trees and plants), 12 BEHOLD, this [divine writ] is indeed a word that distinguishes between truth and falsehood, 13 And it is not a frivolity. 14 They are devising a guile, 15 and I am devising guile. 16 Give respite to the disbelievers and leave them alone for a while. 17
God Almighty has spoken the truth.
