The Sun (Al-Shams)
15 verses, revealed in Mecca after Destiny (Al-Qadr) before The Galaxies (Al-Burooj)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
By the sun and his morning brightness 1 by the moon, which follows it, 2 and by the day when it displays him 3 and the night as it veils it darkly! 4 Consider the sky and its wondrous make, 5 The earth and its spreading out, 6 By the soul, and That which shaped it 7 And inspired it [with discernment of] its wickedness and its righteousness, 8 Surely blissful is he who hath cleansed it, 9 And he fails that corrupts it! 10 In their presumptuous insolence the Thamud called the Truth a lie 11 when their arch-criminal rose up in rage. 12 And the messenger of Allah [Salih] said to them, "[Do not harm] the she-camel of Allah or [prevent her from] her drink." 13 But they gave him the lie, and cruelly slaughtered her - whereupon their Sustainer visited them with utter destruction for this their sin, destroying them all alike: 14 He did not fear the consequences. 15
God the Almighty always says the truth.
