The Night (Al-Layl)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
By the night enshrouding 1 And the day when it shines in all its glory, 2 And the creating of the male and the female, 3 Verily, (the ends) ye strive for are diverse. 4 As for one who gives [to others] and fears [God], 5 And believed the best matter to be true 6 We shall ease the way of fortune for him. 7 But as for him who is a miser, and self-sufficient, 8 And disbelieveth in goodness; 9 So We will very soon provide him hardship. 10 Nor will his wealth profit him when he falls headlong (into the Pit). 11 Verify on us is the guidance 12 And indeed, to Us belongs the Hereafter and the first [life]. 13 Therefore do I warn you of a Fire blazing fiercely; 14 None shall reach it but those most unfortunate ones 15 Who give the lie to Truth and turn their backs. 16 He will be far away from the most pious. (The first Caliph S. Abu Bakr Siddiq) 17 he that spends his possessions [on others] so that he might grow in purity 18 And who hath no favour from anyone to recompense. 19 Except as seeking (to fulfil) the purpose of his Lord Most High. 20 He will surely be well-pleased (with him). 21
