The Hidden Secret (Al-Muddath-thir)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
O thou shrouded in thy mantle, 1 Rise up and warn! 2 And thy Sustainer's greatness glorify! 3 and purify your clothing, 4 And all defilement shun! 5 do not bestow a favour in the expectation of receiving more in return; 6 and for the sake of your Lord, be patient. 7 For when the Trump is sounded 8 that will surely be a hard day, 9 Not of ease, for disbelievers. 10 Leave Me with him whom I alone have created, 11 And then granted him resources in abundance. 12 And sons abiding in his presence 13 and made all things smooth for him; 14 and who still greedily desires that I should bestow upon him more. 15 By no means; he is stubbornly opposed to Our Signs. 16 Soon I shall mount him on Saood, the hill of fire. 17 Verily he considered, and devised. 18 death seize him, how he determined! 19 May be then be accursed, how he plotted! 20 Then he looked, 21 Then frowned he and scowled. 22 Then he turned back and was arrogant 23 Then said he: "This is nothing but magic, derived from of old; 24 This is naught but the word of a mortal. 25 I will cast him into hell. 26 What will let you know what the Scorching is like! 27 It does not allow to live, and neither leaves [to die,] 28 it scorches (even) the skin. 29 Over it are nineteen (angels guarding). 30 We have appointed none but angels to guard the Fire, and made their number only as a trial for the unbelievers, so that those to whom the Book was given are certain and those who believe increase in belief. And that those who were given the Book, and those who believe will not be in doubt. And that those in whose hearts there is a sickness, together with the unbelievers, may say: 'What did Allah intend by this as an example' As such, Allah leaves in error whom He will and He guides whomsoever He will. None knows the hosts of your Lord except He. This is no more than a Reminder to humans. 31
