When Your Lord told Moses to go to the unjust people of the Pharaoh 10 The people of Firon: Will they not guard (against evil)? 11 'My Lord' he replied, 'I fear they will belie me 12 And my breast straitens, and my tongue is not eloquent, therefore send Thou to Haroun (to help me); 13 "And (further), they have a charge of crime against me; and I fear they may slay me." 14 (It was) said: "By no means. Go with My signs, both of you. I am verily with you and I hear. 15 Go to Pharaoh, both of you, and say, 'We are messengers from the Lord of the Worlds: 16 Let the children of Israel go with us!'" 17 He (Pharaoh) said (to Moses): 'Did We not bring you up when you were a child? And have you not spent years of your life amongst us? 18 And [then] you did your deed which you did, and you were of the ungrateful." 19 Moses replied, "I did that when I was one of the misguided, 20 "So I fled from you when I feared you. But my Lord has granted me Hukman (i.e. religious knowledge, right judgement of the affairs and Prophethood), and appointed me as one of the Messengers. 21 And this is the favor with which you oblige me: You have made the Israelites your slaves. 22 Pharaoh said, "What is this: Lord of the Universe?" 23 He said: Lord of the heavens and the earth and whatsoever is in-between, if ye seek to be convinced. 24 Pharaoh said to those around him, "Did you hear?" 25 [And Moses] continued: "[He is] your Sustainer, [too,] as well as the Sustainer of your forefathers of old!" 26 (The Pharaoh) said (to his nobles): "Your apostle who has been sent to you, is certainly mad." 27 (Moses) said: "Lord of the East and the West, and all between! if ye only had sense!" 28 Pharaoh said, "If you put forward any god other than me, I will surely put you in prison". 29 Said he: "Even if I should bring about before thee something that clearly shows the truth?" 30 The Pharaoh replied, "Bring it, if you are telling the truth." 31 Thereupon [Moses] threw down his staff - and lo! it was a serpent, plainly visible; 32 Then he drew out his hand, and it was luminous to the onlookers. 33
