The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ When the event befalleth - 1 no soul will deny its coming. 2 abasing, exalting, 3 When the earth is shaken violently, 4 And the mountains will be powdered to dust. 5 Turned to dust, floating in the air, 6 And you shall be three sorts. 7 Then (as to) the companions of the right hand; how happy are the companions of the right hand! 8 Companions of the Left, what are the Companions of the Left? 9 And those Foremost (in Faith) will be Foremost (in the Hereafter). 10 those are they brought near (to their Lord) 11 In Gardens of Delight. 12 a good many of those of olden times, 13 but [only] a few of later times. 14 on lavish couches 15 reclining upon them, set face to face, 16 There shall go round unto them youths ever-young. 17 with goblets, jugs and cups of crystal clear wine 18 by which their minds will not be clouded and which will not make them drunk; 19 they will also go about them with the fruits of which they may choose, 20 And with flesh of fowls from that which they desire. 21 And gorgeous eyed fair maidens. 22 like pearls preserved in their shells, 23 The reward for what they did. 24 No empty talk will they hear there, nor any call to sin, 25 Only the saying, "Peace! Peace". 26 The Companions of the Right Hand,- what will be the Companions of the Right Hand? 27 Among thornless lote-trees 28 and serried acacias, 29 And in everlasting shade. 30 And in perpetually flowing water. 31 and an abundance of fruits, 32 Unending, unforbidden, 33 And carpets raised. 34 Perfectly We formed them, perfect, 35 And have made them virgins. 36 The beloved of their husbands, of one age. 37 like of age for the Companions of the Right. 38
