[AND] the people of Lot gave the lie to [one of God's] message-bearers 160 When their fellowman Lut said to them, “Do you not fear?” 161 "Verily! I am a trustworthy Messenger to you. 162 So fear Allah and obey me. 163 And I ask of you no hire therefor; my hire is but with the Lord of the worlds. 164 "Of all the creatures in the world, will ye approach males, 165 And leave the wives your Lord created for you? Nay, but ye are froward folk. 166 They said: "If you do not desist, O Lot, you will be expelled (from the city)." 167 He said: I am in truth of those who hate your conduct. 168 Lord, save me and my family from their deeds." 169 Thereupon We saved him and all his household 170 except for an old woman who stayed behind, 171 then We destroyed the others, 172 And We rained on them a rain. So ill was the rain on those warned? 173 In this [story,] behold, there is a message [unto men,] even though most of them will not believe [in it]. 174 And indeed, your Lord - He is the Exalted in Might, the Merciful. 175
