The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
By the (angels) who tear out (the souls of the wicked) with violence; 1 and those that blow gently, 2 by the swimmers (angels) swimming gently 3 And who quickly present themselves. 4 And those who govern the event, 5 The day the convulsive (first blast) shatters convulsively 6 followed by the succeeding, 7 Hearts on that day shall palpitate, 8 Their looks will be downcast. 9 They shall say, 'What, are we being restored as we were before? 10 After having turned to carious bones?" 11 They have said, "Such a resurrection will certainly be a great loss". 12 It will only be a single blast, 13 And suddenly they will be [alert] upon the earth's surface. 14 Have you heard the story of Moses? 15 Lo! His Sustainer called out to him in the twice-hallowed valley: 16 (Saying:) Go thou unto Pharaoh - Lo! he hath rebelled - 17 And say: 'Would you like to grow (in virtue)? 18 And I will guide you to your Lord so that you should fear. 19 So he showed him the greater sign; 20 but the Pharaoh rejected it and disobeyed (Moses). 21 Then he turned back striving. 22 and gathered his people and declared: 23 and proclaimed, "I am your supreme Lord," 24 Wherefore Allah laid hold of him with the punishment of the Hereafter and of the present. 25 Lo! herein is indeed a lesson for him who feareth. 26
