Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Have you heard the story of the overwhelming event (the Day of Judgment)? 1 Some faces, that Day, will be humiliated, 2 Laboring, toiling, 3 Burning in the scorching fire, 4 watered at a boiling fountain, 5 They will have no food other than bitter and thorny fruit 6 which gives no strength and neither stills hunger. 7 Faces on that Day shall be delighted, 8 well-pleased with their striving. 9 In the high empyrean, 10 Where they shall hear no (word) of vanity: 11 therein a running fountain, 12 Therein are thrones raised high, 13 And goblets set at hand 14 Cushions arranged, 15 and outspread carpets. 16 Will they not then consider the camels, how they are created? 17 And how the heaven was raised up, 18 And the mountains: how they were fixed? 19 And the earth, how it was spread out? 20 Remind them; you are surely a reminder. 21 Thou art not at all a warder over them. 22 But if any turn away and reject Allah,- 23 Allah will chastise him with the greatest chastisement. 24 Verily, to Us will be their return; 25 And Ours their reckoning. 26
